Bringing the spirit of summer to life everyday

About Us

Now in our 18th season, Sandy Days Kids Camp has created unforgettable summer and spring experiences for thousands of campers and their families. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the energy, music, smiles, and excitement fill the air as our team welcomes everyone to a day full of adventure. Campers enjoy endless activities on the sand and in the water, choosing what they want to do while learning independence and confidence in a safe, nurturing environment.

Our Staff

A community that nurtures growth,
independence and joy.

Our staff, a mix of veteran teachers and enthusiastic counselors, guides each child’s growth with intention, fun, and care. Week after week, friendships flourish, and a true sense of community takes shape. At Sandy Days Kids Camp, our team is more than a group of supervisors, we are passionate mentors who celebrate every child’s growth, individuality, and joy.

With a 1:6 counselor-to-camper ratio, we ensure each camper feels supported, seen, and encouraged to try new things. Many of our counselors are local teachers, coaches, and childcare professionals, bringing real-world experience, creativity, and energy to every day at camp.

Before each season, all staff complete 16 hours of specialized training, with ongoing education throughout the summer. You will easily spot our team on the beach, counselors in blue rash guards and campers in bright yellow, playing, laughing, and learning together.

We follow the highest standards of safety and health, meeting all California, Los Angeles County, and American Camp Association guidelines. From morning greetings to the last song of the day, our goal is simple: to help every camper grow with confidence, kindness, and curiosity and have the best summer ever.

Sina Monjazeb

Founder & Director

With a background in human development and education, Sina Monjazeb founded Sandy Days Kids Camp in 2009 to bring his lifelong passion for the outdoors and child development to life.

After earning his B.A. in Kinesiology: Physical Education from Cal State Long Beach, Sina worked as a physical education teacher and later as an athletic director for nearly two decades. His love for nature, sports, music, and meaningful connections inspired him to create a camp where kids can explore, create, and grow freely.

To Sina, Sandy Days isn’t just a camp, it’s a lifestyle: slowing down, enjoying the outdoors, and building friendships that last beyond summer.

David “Hippie” Emeson

Assistant Camp Director

Part of Sandy Days almost since the beginning, David Emeson is one of the camp’s most energetic and beloved team members. Known by a special camp nickname (you’ll have to join to find out!), David brings laughter, creativity, and a true kid-at-heart spirit to every day. With a background in theater, David loves helping campers step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, and form lasting friendships — all while keeping the summer energy alive year-round. “Even though we’re teaching and guiding, the learning goes both ways — the kids help us stay young at heart.”

Robyn Mitsch

Arts & Crafts Director

If you’re part of the Sandy Days community, you’ll quickly get to know Robyn Mitsch — she’s the friendly, organized force making sure every camp day runs smoothly. With a degree in Special Education from Boston University and decades of experience working with children across the U.S., Robyn brings both expertise and heart to the team. She’s worked as a teacher, tutor, and nanny, and even led arts and crafts at a local beach camp — where she first met Sina. As both an educator and a mom, Robyn truly understands what kids and parents need. She’s thrilled to bring her “office to the sand,” helping create joyful, seamless experiences for every camper. “After years of working indoors, I’m so happy to be back in the sunshine — helping kids learn, play, and grow at the beach.”
