Sandy Days Kids Camp is a beach camp for kids ages 4 – 14 located in Pacific Palisades. If you love the beach and love kids this is your dream summer job. We are a small family owned and operated beach camp where we value the individuals who work with us and are a part of the Sandy Days Kids Camp team. If you are interested in making lifelong friends and creating incredible memories for kids while hanging out at the beach, this is the job for you.

Brief Description: Camp counselors at Sandy Days Kids Camp are responsible for the physical and emotional well-being of campers. They supervise campers in a day camp setting, at mealtimes, and during activities. Counselors are in charge of facilitating activities throughout the day. Counselors work as a team to ensure all campers have a fun and memorable experience at camp.

Exhibit characteristics of responsibility, dependability, leadership, patience, punctuality, hard work, sense of humor, self-control, integrity, common sense, good judgment and a positive enthusiastic attitude.
Complete the staff application and group interview process.
Attend staff training.
Must have completed high school and be a minimum 18 years of age or older as of 5/30/22.
Desire and ability to work with children.
Counselors are responsible for the health, safety and welfare of each camper within their group and with whom they come into contact. E.g. drinking water, active supervision during rest/ down time, application of sunscreen and lip balm, etc.
Develop opportunities for positive interaction between campers and staff.
Provide opportunities for each individual to experience success during camp.
Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations.
Know where your campers are at all times.
The staff member must never leave campers unsupervised.

The following are the requirements, specific to each open staff position:

Camp Counselor ($15.00/hr):
At least 18 years old and CPR/1st Aid Certified
Dependable & Responsible
Have prior camp experience as a counselor working with kids ages 4 -14
Ability to lead campers in a variety of games/activities
Creative and artistic (we have daily arts/crafts projects)
Self Motivated, energetic and FUN
A team player with positive attitude and leadership skills
Experience in specific skills are strongly desired
Surfing, boogie boarding, paddling
Arts/crafts
Gymnastics
Sports and games (dodgeball, volleyball, softball/baseball, hula hooping, etc…)
Visual arts, theater, dance, story telling, music and drama

Arts & Crafts Specialist ($15.00/hr):

Arts and Crafts Specialists spend a majority of their day leading groups of kids in craft activities. They must organize the crafts for the day and assist the kids throughout the activity period. This is an arts-based position.

REQUIREMENTS:
– Able to set-up, clearly demonstrate, and assist with a wide range of arts and crafts activities
– Able to execute simple crafts throughout the day
– Patience in working with kids and teaching skills
– Highly organized and efficient
– Plan, organize and maintain arts/crafts supplies and equipment

Surfing/Swimming/Water/Ocean Specialist Staff ($15.00/hr, DOE):
At least 18 years old and CPR/1st Aid Certified
WSI or Red Cross Lifeguard certified a plus
Dependable & Responsible
Have prior camp experience as a counselor working with kids ages 4 -14 preferred
Have prior experience being a surf instructor
Junior Lifeguards background/experience a plus
Ability to lead campers in a variety of games/activities
Self Motivated, energetic and FUN
A team player with positive attitude and leadership skills
Experience in specific skills are strongly desired
Surfing, Swimming, boogie boarding, paddling
Knowledge of ocean conditions, currents, surf and ocean safety

OVERVIEW OF STAFF HOURS & POSITIONS:

Staff positions available: Camper hours are 9:00am-3:00pm. Counselor hours are 8:45 am – 3:15pm.
