Dear Sandy Days Families,
We received an email from the Department of Beaches and Harbors letting us know that we will not be allowed to open this summer. We were extremely disappointed to receive that email as we were hopeful to open this summer. Just as we were about to send out an email to all of our families we received another email last week saying we might be allowed to open and operate camp this summer. The update stated that:
“We have learned that Governor Newsom may be releasing guidelines shortly for summer camp operations. These protocols may allow Department of Beaches and Harbors summer use license permittees for day and surf camps to operate, provided they are able to meet the required health and safety protocols. As the Department learns more about this potentially good news, we will reach out to you with further information.”
– Erick Rangel, Permit Section Head, Beaches and Harbors
Unfortunately, since that email last Wednesday we have not heard anything else from the county. I have been trying to contact them all week but have not been able to reach them.
As of now we are closed for the summer pending further updates from the county. I want to let you all know that if we are allowed to open, even if only for a few weeks, we will open. It is our goal to provide a safe space for kids to be kids, get outside and be active this summer. As soon as we get any updates we will email to let you know our status.
